BMW has announced that it will soon recall 200,000 vehicles in September. The recall has been initiated after it was discovered that the vehicles in question have a possible passenger-side airbag defect that could cause the deployment of the airbags to fail.
The recall is for several specific models, including the 2004 and 2005 5-Series, the 2006 3-Series, and the 2004-2006 X3 automobiles.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the airbags in these vehicles may not deploy “even if a sufficiently severe accident would occur.”
